THE ACADEMY
Montgomery & Miller Academy prides itself in helping students achieve their dreams and goals through a positive learning environment.
Montgomery & Miller Academy seeks to help students develop the education and life skills they need to succeed in the modern age. In today’s competitive environment, a secondary school education that focuses only on cognitive development no longer suffices. This is why we coach our learners to develop an extensive set of character skills and practical life skills to set them apart from the crowd.

The Academy prides itself in its teaching excellence, direct student focus and student encouragement in subject engagement. Our students are encouraged to take a genuine interest in the course material through small interactive classes which enable more specialised focus to be placed on the individual students.
Montgomery & Miller Academy teaches students from Grade 6 through to Grade 12, whilst also offering students who wish to improve their matric results an opportunity to do a post-matric revision course. All students are afforded the opportunity to learn in an environment that focusses heavily on student academic performance and learning interests.
School Philosophy
While some schools focus heavily on the expectation that their students work hard and engage with course work of the school’s volition, at Montgomery and Miller we choose a different educational philosophy. The philosophy of our private school is to approach each student as an individual rather than a collective and to engage with the student to determine their personal interests, strengths and weaknesses. From there we can grow their strengths and improve upon their weaknesses, while at the same time encouraging the learner to see value in their own abilities.
Interactive Relationship
As is often the case with learners who struggle with educational demands or reaching their personal potential, there is a missing element of self-belief generated by direct, genuine encouragement from a teacher. It is our school’s practice to work closely with our students to help them learn this self-belief through direct encouragement. The small class sizes help build a more personal and interactive relationship between teacher and student which in turn allows for accelerated learning through more focused attention.
The Academy staff, through this mentoring relationship with students, helps them to grow and discover their interests and how to leverage those interests into a possible career or even just an appreciation of their own . This passive process is worked into the teaching process and general interaction inside and outside of the classroom. We find this helps our students develop important life skills and life associations with the joy of learning.
It is Montgomery and Miller Academy’s goal to see that a student becomes a well-rounded and successful adult as they move from the school system into the chosen direction of their young adult lives.
What Makes us Different
We Nurture External Skills
A secondary school education focusing only on cognitive development no longer suffices. This is why we coach our learners to develop an extensive set of character skills and practical life skills to set them apart from the highly competitive crowd.
We Support Our Learners
We teach our learners in very small groups, which enables us to provide more comprehensive and more personalised guidance than traditional group sizes would permit. The average learner to educator ratio is 1:14. Should a learner be struggling with a specific subject matter, extensive and regular support, such as extra classes are available outside of the regular classroom hours at the learner's or educator's request to help them better grasp subject material.
Unlocking Career Choices
At Montgomery & Miller Academy, we ensure that all our graduates meet the requirements for a variety of degree courses so that they are not limited in their degree choice by subject decisions taken at the end of the Senior Phase when they matriculate. This gives them the opportunity to grow and develop without traditional subject restrictions.
We Embrace Diversity
Educators at Montgomery and Miller Academy foster a relationship centred around mentorship and mutual respect. One of the many ways in which we pursue our mission to enable our learners to rediscover the joy of learning is to cultivate a climate where they can be themselves and are appreciated for their unique personal characteristics, all the while learning from their mentor how to grow and develop beyond the classroom.
